The 2016 Mustang California Special?

I ask because it seems like a good compromise. You get GT power, a spoiler, suede seats, and some stripes, and it’s easier to find CS cars with the luxuries like memory seats and rear parking sensors than it is to find Track Pack cars with the same features.

However, not getting the Track Pack means you miss out on items such as Brembo brakes and those sweet gauges above the navigation screen. In addition, the CS does look a bit “all show no go.”

So what say you, Oppo? Track Pack or California Special?

1. Track pack

2. Cali special

3. Normal GT

I’m in California, and it’s not that Special. I want a Track Pack GT, period. Also, a CS with no side scoops is no CS at all.

Does that mean it runs people over in an environmentally friendly manner?

I love the CS! That or wait another year for the Mustang refresh, it should become more competitive to the Camaro. Ford already said the GT350 will have the track pack standard next model year (including the magnetorheological dampers) because of how strong the new Camaro came out of the box. But if you aren’t tracking or AutoX the car, then the luxury makes more sense than brakes you won’t notice and some gauges you can live without.

As a Californian, it needs a built in vape, special pedals so Birkenstocks can heel toe without issue, cupholders that can fit in and out without issue, a stereo system tuned so Drake sounds the bomb, and a radar guided burnout mode.

Finding a Premium with Perf Pack isn’t that difficult. Suede seats suck. Performance Pack for the win.

I’d take the Track Pack for the go-fast bits, though I wish Ford was willing to allow cooled seats as an option on Track Pack ‘Stangs - I was sure that they were going to do that based on the pre-production show cars.

I’m not keen on the California Special wheels, though I like the rest of the CS’s aesthetic bits.

The wheels look to small or something.

I’m not even sure why Ford does a “California Special” package, given how averse Californians are to American cars.

GT350 is definitely the winner here.

You can actually get cooled seats on the Track Pack as long as you don’t spec the Recaros.

And a gold hoverboard and rose gold iPhone to go along.

Based on the car events I’ve been to, the California special is actually the Track Pack.

Finding a Premium with the Track Pack and all the features I’d like with an interior color that isn’t black is much more difficult.

It makes sure to recycle everything when it’s done.

I think it’s the black accents that cause the illusion.

What does Oppo think about the 2016 Mustang California Special?

All the good things. I like it mostly for cosmetic reasons (that grille, plus the round insignia at the back, and those black accents on a white car...).

The only thing I don’t like are the wheels, but that’s an easy fix.

Some say the track package doesn’t go far enough, and that the Recaros are actually much less comfortable than the base seats. Since you have to mod the car anyways (and I don’t mind not having the extra gauges), I’d choose the CS.

Would rather 50th Anniversary edition.

Whoops, that’s what I meant - I'd like to see cooled seats and the Recaros together.

That would be a great combo to see. It’s a shame the Recaros aren’t even heated.

Even the original 68' CSs were kind of a flashier/unique/slightly more luxurious option rather than the true track weapon. I’ve got a friend with a red 2008 CS with the 4.6 and a stick and a lady that I used to work with had a black 2012 CS with the auto. Both are nice, but are more fast, comfortable coupes than all out sporty cars like the current GT track pack is. That new 2016 looks a little overdone to me with the hood vents and swooshy ridge styling things but to each his/her own.
